Adobe on mac air 1.4 gHz

I just recently bought a MacBook Air and i have tried to install adobe flash player and reader on it and even after installing java and enabling the plugins it starts the installation and then stops at 30%. I have also tried quit Safari and other basic troubleshooting methods to no avail.
