Adobe web sit says Flash is disabled. Edge is set to on. I have Windows 10 Pro.

That will certainly get it done.

For other folks that are running into this issue, I'm really curious about whether or not a non-destructive Refresh of the operating system would solve this.

when I said MS reinstalled I should have mentioned they did it without touching my apps or files.

I did lose my favorites as they tried deleting edge and reinstalling it first.

Yeah, I don't really know what the implications there are, either.

There's an option to "Refresh" the Windows 10 installation, which basically replaces the OS but leaves your files and settings in-tact. This may solve it if it's something wrong with permissions.

I *did* downgrade to a production release and confirmed that Flash is working both in my administrative and a new standard user account. It feels like a problem with permissions to me, which kind of aligns with the message above -- but I'm not seeing anything that points directly to Flash.

OK this is wierd. I looked at the add-ons for IE 11

and there was an adobe third-party Microsoft add-on for Shockwave flash object on my wife's account which isn't in my add-ons

I added it to my add-ons but it went away as soon as I closed IE11 and didn't allow edge to run flash if IE open.

I downloaded this at Adobe - Test Adobe Shockwave Player

How can my wife's account have this add-on yet I cant add it. could this be part of the problem?

Oh, it's Silicon Valley story time. I'll keep it short and not perfectly accurate. Way back in the '90s there was Macromedia, which was closely related to Shockwave, which in the frenzy of crazy startup valuations, pets.com and webvan, spawned shockwave.com, which ultimately had it's own shooting star moment.

The Shockwave Player plays software written in the Lingo language, which is built with Director. Flash Player was originally Shockwave Flash, and the moniker was baked permanently into Netscape way back when Full House was still on TV. Flash Player plays ActionScript content, built with Adobe Animate CC (previously Flash Professional).

We're now left with the legacy of two confusingly named, totally different products.

The tester thing is for the Shockwave Player, not Flash. Last time I checked, Shockwave player doesn't work in IE or Edge on Win10, because ActiveX plug-ins are gone. That's also why Flash Player is a built-in component of the browser. There's no concept of browser plug-ins at this point in IE or Edge, but the web would be pretty broken without Flash, so it's in essence, the last plug-in standing, by virtue of not being a plug-in anymore.

I'd like to see a screenshot of what you see on your wife's account. That would be interesting. Again, because it's distributed as part of the browser, it's not like we have an installer or anything in play.

FAQ: How do I capture and post a screen shot or video?

Sometimes what works when an IE/Edge installation gets corrupted, is to uninstall the last update to IE/Edge, then reinstall it from Windows Update. We'll do this for people that follow old directions for Windows 7 (where Flash *is* a separate plug-in that can be uninstalled/reinstalled) on Windows 8+, and have instead hopelessly corrupted their IE/Edge installations. That process usually gets them back to a working state.

To do this, go to:
Settings > Windows Update > Advanced Options
(or click Start and type Advanced Windows Update Options)

Choose View your Update History > Uninstall Updates

Find the latest update for IE or Edge, and uninstall it.

Reboot, then run Windows Update again to re-apply the update.

Internet Explorer 11 and Edge introduce a number of changes both to how the browser identifies itself to remote web servers, and to how it processes JavaScript intended to target behaviors specific to Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, this means that content on some sites will be broken until the content provider changes their site to conform to the new development approach required by modern versions of IE.

You can try to work around these issues by using Compatibility View:

If that is too inconvenient, using Google Chrome may be a preferable alternative.

I want to use Edge. Yes, I can get the site to run on anything else, I happen to like Edge.

But its really frustrating. There are 2 users on this computer. 2 weeks ago, Edge worked fine on mine and not for other user. Now it works for other user and not for me.

Other than adding compatibility settings haven't changed anything just verified settings are correct, which they are. There have been some windows updates including a flash update.

I am running Windows 10 pro if that makes any difference.

My only thought is the site changed something, they did change their look. But my two other computers can use the site with Edge no problem, but they are running Windows 10 Home.

Is Flash Player in Edge failing to work on all sites, or just this specific one? I don't always trust our test page, so I'd take that with a grain of salt. Edge is a moving target, and we keep having to fix that page.

If it's just a specific site, clearing the browser cache and cookies would probably get you going. If it's all sites, something is going on. If you haven't rebooted since the problem started, that's probably the best place to start. If the issue persists, is the affected user an Administrator or standard user?
