And Just Like That, Adobe Starts a Slow & Painful Death...

Yes, Flash Player has reached EOL and Adobe reps & fanboys alike are pulling the "well you knew the end was coming" card to show their arrogance and supremacy in the world of tech.

Let's face it, Flash Player does not fit Adobe's business model as a now Software as a Service Provider.  Flash Player has been around for decades and up until recent years, their software for creators was a one time purchase.  Adobe wasn't making the profits they wanted on it so, why not cut it.  F*ck the the little consumer is what it has come to and it is a damn shame.  Yes, tech is always evolving and always will, but at what cost?  I am an Adobe subscriber and the only reason I knew about the Flash Player EOL was due to Google adding a pesky notification to their Chrome browser in 2020.

The biggest reason I felt the need to comment on this is the amount of security systems and other embedded network devices that rely on Flash Player for its GUI.  These devices are often not connected to the web and/or are not used every day therefore not needing continuous access.  The little man and small organizations/business will be the major losers in this.  January 12, 2020 is a date that will live in tech infamy, marking a time that many devices will forcefully need upgraded by the consumer.  This is also a time that will be the start of the decline of Adobe as their customer base will ultimately look elsewhere for services.

Speaking as a product user who doesn't work for Adobe, all I can say is the FREE Flash Player end of life announcement was released 3-1/2 years ago, giving content creators, programmers, developers and IT experts more than ample time to prepare for this.

In addition, Flash Player EOL announcements were issued by major news channels as well as AppleFacebookGoogleMicrosoft  and  Mozilla.  So if you got left out in the cold for some reason, that's very unfortunate.  But it strikes me as odd that NOBODY around you knew about it.

Stay safe & best of luck to you! 🙂

It has nothing to do with arrogance or supremacy, but rather facing the reality. It was announced in July 2017 that the Flash Player will be deprecated due to a) serious security concerns and b) advances in web technologies, such as HTML5, WebGL, etc..., making the Flash Player slowly obsolete anyway.

If you are a company that's still using Flash-based applications, get in touch with Adobe's partner HARMAN:

Yes, I realize that I put the date as Jan 12, 2020, but obviously meant 2021.  When I click "... More" it does not display any options which I believe is a site error -- maybe it's a Flash function that no longer works 🤣🤣🤣🤣
