Another failed Adobe update for flash

Once again, what should be a simple installation of the released Flash update for an xp sp3 system caused Flash to fail completely.  I don't have the time or patience to apply your so-called security updates, if you can't devise one that doesn't sabotage the workings of flash for all websites.  Thank goodness I set a restore point on the system before allowing Adobe to update itself.  That has prevented me from hours of headaches I'm sure you'll be reading about in this forum for weeks to come...

Funny that only the updates from Adobe corp seem to encounter this problem with my system, which otherwise works flawlessly...

how did you set a restore point and if one does so will it automatically put

back in the previous all about adobe flash files i think in particular in winxp anyway in

windows/system32/macromed/flash folder ? Or do they put them somewhere else also. Now my question is there any other way to get back everything to do with flash adobe just before 13 jan 2010 when they unfortuneately did the automatic update. As i remember they did not give me a choice NOT to install but think it wentahead without my permission and i could not have done anything about it but not real sure. Anyway after that latest update the utube playlist feature in full screen will no longer work properly as the next selection just freezess until one has to get up and press the play button. very annoying. just before that it worked ok.

This is for zmth, The other thread you commented on, I responded to. It is better if you started your own thread. It is too confusing to have 2 or more people on one thread with different problems. That way someone can help you better.

Just a bit of advice, SR(system restore is a feature you do not want to use unless you know exactly what you are doing)

Don't make your problem worse zmth. There is a solution to your problem. I allowed the Flash Player to be installed from the prompt and got tangled up, but I knew how to untangle it. Let someone help you. This is the time to get the proper help.

Hi, I can't tell from your post if you have FP working now or not. Did you receive the Adobe prompt that an update was available and click on install now?

I received the prompt on my own computer and had a mishap, but was able to resolve it, so if you haven't resolved yours

I may be able to advise you.

    Thanks,

I'd be happy to read your possible solution. Yes, I received the Adobe prompt, installed the new version, then rebooted the system and checked to see if flash was working.  It wasn't - only a blank box where the flash content should appear.

I'm once again running Flash version 10c, but only because I used system restore to remove the updated version Flash update installed.  I had quite a few problems getting 10c to work when it first came out, because of permission problems in the registry, but eventually was able to resolve the issues.  You can read about it in my previous posts if you're interested.

Hi perpends, sorry for the delay, wasn't ignoring you. We have a family situation and for a couple of days, my time on the forum will be limited.

Your steps to rectify the Flash Player problem was different than what I did. And I am not faulting you for anything. I just

(thankfully) knew exactly what I had to do to get mine untangled. What you are going to need to do is Uninstall/Install

to get things back as they should be.

You didn't say what browser or version you are using to install FP. Please do so. Also make sure you know how to Disable any anti-virus/spyware programs that run in realtime. If you have any Third party Toolbars, they will be disabled as well

as all add ons. You will be disconnecting from the Internet after following the Uninstall and Install instructions.

    Thanks,
