Audio/Video Sync Problem on Hulu with Flash Player 11.4

Hi, Jeromie (and others),

New update:

My install to the latest version of Flash Player finally went OK.  So thanks again for that.

However, it did not help with my other problem of videos having a audio-video sync problem only on the Hulu.com site in the full screen mode.

I have tried just about everything else that I can find about this problem on the internet without finding an adequate solution.

Hulu Support now suggests that I go back and download an archieved Flash Player 10.3x file in the meantime until a fix becomes available.

I have done this and the situation is better but is not 100% cured.  I am still looking for a fix.

Thanks again

VernonDale

I often use allavsoft to download Videos from Hulu on Mac and Windows.

And it also can batch and Direclty Download Hulu Videos to MP4, WMV, MOV, AVI, FLV, etc.

Given the age of this thread, I'm going to lock it to prevent the original posters from getting email updates.

I've branched this to a new discussion with a descriptive title, as this issue is unrelated to the previous issue that you were experiencing.

First things first, try disabling hardware acceleration:

On a SWF, right-click and choose Settings

Click the Left-Most tab and uncheck Use Hardware Acceleration

If that works, let me know and we'll see if we can get it sorted so that you *can* use hardware acceleration.

If the A/V sync issue persists with hardware acceleration disabled, please give me a link to the video so that I can try and reproduce it here.

    Thanks!

    Hi, Jeromie,

I can see that you're definitely determined to help me (and a whole bunch of other folks that are following this and the other threads).  Thanks, again.

    OK, now, SWF

I am almost certain that you don't mean Single White Female, or Salt Water Flush, or Secret Weapons Facility, or even Spiney Water Flea (yes, I looked it up).    I presume that you mean ShockWave Flash files, which in this case I am assuming are the video files on sites such as Hulu.

And since this is a new thread, I will echo that I have already tried this (many times) and the result is still the same.  It does not matter at all whether hardware acceleration is enabled or not.  It just does not have an effect one way or the other.

As far as a 'link' to a video so that you may try and reproduce the problem, I'm sorry, but I'm not sure how to 'provide a link'.  Please tell me how to do that.

However, on Hulu, it does not matter what video, what season, or what episode I try, it is all the same.  It is not specific to any one video.  It's on all of them.

    And, now, just to let everyone know the background of this issue and what I have already done, see the following;

Once upon a time, a couple months ago, everything was just fine.

I was able to watch videos on NetFlix, Hulu, or any other site on the internet in full screen or regular screen mode.  No jerkiness, no audio-video sync problems, no audio volume problems.  Nothing unusual, everything smooth and clean.

Then, suddenly, I lost this good video playback just on the Hulu.com site, and not on any other site.  The video & audio became obviously out of sync in full screen mode and jerkiness appeared in both regular and full screen modes.

I had not made any changes to my system at all.  No new software, no new microsoft updates, no driver changes.  Nothing.

I searched the internet and found no useable information, only that other people had, suddenly, developed the same problem.  But no fixes.

I ran MBAM, SAS, Avast, MSE, Microsoft Defender, and anything else I could find.  No viruses, no malware, no spyware, nothing was found.

I even checked my hard drives, cleaned them, reformatted, and nothing helped.

    I went to Answers.Microsoft.com, Forums.ComCast.com, Forums.Adobe.com, and Support@Hulu.com, just to name a few.

Everyone had all the usual suggestions, checks, and rechecks, but absolutely nothing helped.

Support@Hulu.com then suggested that I should update to the latest Adobe Flash Player 11.4x.

I tried to update, had problems getting a clean install, but managed to fix it with Adobe's help. But that did not help either.

Then Hulu.com suggested that I go back to an earlier version and so I installed FP 10.3.183.29.

Then, however, they recommended for me to drop back yet again to FP 10.3.183.18 since they were experiencing problems even with that version.

And, so, here I sit, no better off than before, with no explanation of what happened, and no fix, yet, either.  Only a lot of time spent trying.  This situation is just crazy, nobody seems to know what to do next.

I've done a lot of electronics hardware and computer equipment management, troubleshooting, and repair, both mechanically and software related, before retiring.

I was a Network Administrator (in a department of only 8 people) overseeing 1300+ computers at a single location for the government.

I refuse to let this glich get the better of me.

My obvious guess is that the problem lies at Hulu's feet and no where else, since quite literally, every other site works just fine, thank you very much.

Oh, well, I'll let my Adobe friends give it a whirl.  (and I promise to be a heck of a lot briefer on my next posts, which will probably be a relief to all our viewers)

    Thanks, guys

    Hi, Jeromie,

Did I lose you?  Hardware acceleration off does nothing to improve the audio-video sync or the jerky display in full screen mode.

I also checked with Comcast Support and they checked my internet connections and said everything is OK.  Nothing more that they can do.

Anyone else have a suggeston?  Is anyone else having this sync problem with Hulu.com?  Thanks.
