Beware Flash Security Update

I received a request from Adobe upon booting to install a Flash security update. I did and when I went to a media website, it said I did not have Flash and needed to download. I then went to Adobe.com and tried to download Flash but it kept freezing at the ActiveX point. I re-opened my browser, and even rebooted, but still the same problem. Thinking the problem was the secutiry install, I performed a System Restore. Upon rebotting, I received the same Flash Security installation request but declined.

Upshot is no more problems. My current Flash works.

Why is Adobe sending out a Secuity patch that wipes out Flash and prevents downloading their product? Or is it a virus sent out that looks like it's from Adobe? My

McCafee didn't catch it if it's a virus?

Anyone else have this problem recently?

    Dear Rudolfherrn,

I'm thankful for your information about difficulties with the Security patch update for Adobe Flash player. Distrustfull as I am I've tried first to get some information from Adobe about this update. I tried completely in vain. Then I happened to meet your contribution "Beware..."

I now think that we (and probably many others) got there a rather bad Christmas parcel.

May your holidays nevertheless be happy
