Big problem getting flash to work properly! Please help!

This has been going on for about two months now:

Any flash video I play will start to load and play then about a minute or so in it will freeze and go into the "buffer" mode where there is a little spinning circle or whatever where the video is. However instead of resuming playing when the video loads it continues to stay on this "buffer" screen. The video will finish loading (I can tell by the status bar) but I will be unable to resume playing it. I am able to download the .flv file itself however. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times. I have the current version of flash player as well. This happens in both firefox and IE. And I am running Windows XP 64 bit SP2. Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys!

Wow...I just installed the newest java update that I missed somehow. I tested 3 videos that I knew I had issues with before and all three seem to play flawlessly now. Could that really have been all that was wrong?

Hi again, well yes and I must admit I have been lax on asking about Java. Well , keep checking other sites and that could have been all that it was.

Now keep in mind, you only want the most current Java version. Anything older, the sites will use. Perhaps these websites instead of asking for FP when it's already installed, they should be asking for JAVA:-)

Post back if it isn't resolved. Let's hope it is.

Hi, You didn't say which version of IE you are using, but check in your manage add ons (all listed) and find Shockwave Flash Object..ActiveX Control...Flash10e.ocx and make sure it is listed and also Enabled.

You can also go to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash and post back all Flash files listed. In order for Flash Player to operated properly, the files need to be correct along with the Flash Object listed above.

If these are correct, then something else is conflicting, but do check these first.

    Thanks,

Hey, thanks for the reply. I looked for what you said but couldnt find it in IE. I don't even really care if it works in IE as I usually just

use firefox. I did however find the shockwave add on in my firefox extenstions but I couldn't find the "Active X control". And in that folder you told me to check in I have the following files:

    flashplayer.xpt

    KB923789.inf

    NPSWF32_FlashUtil.exe

    install.log

    NPSWF32.dll

    uninstall_plugin.exe

Thanks again for your continued assistance.

Hi, thanks for the info. The Flash files for Firefox are correct IF you right click on the NPSWF files and click on Properties to get the version number. The latest version is 10.0.45.2. And the plug-in SWF for Firefox you found and it is Enabled? If those 2 NPSWF files are vs 10.0.45.2 and the SWF is the same version and Enabled, then all of your Flash Player files are correct and you shouldn't be having any problem.

What you described that is happening could be several things. Normally another add on, plug-in or extension is conflicting. If you use adblock, disable it for now.

An Anti-Virus program, Firewall can conflict with the browser.

You may want to post back that info and I can take a look at it. A version of the Anti-Virus would be helpful as some have components that do conflict with the browsers.

You didn't Install Flash Player using IE so the Shockwave Flash Object, the ActiveX Control would not be in the IE add ons.

    Thanks,
