Big problems with flash player. says the latest is installed but youtube says i need to upgrade.

So, This all started when adobe upgraded to 10.2.198 i think it was. anyway I went to go to youtube and it said I needed to upgrade to the latest version of adobe flash player. I clicked on the provided link and downloaded it. the download finishes, and I go back to youtube figuring everything is peaches and cream. I returned to see the same message that was there in the beginning, and have been scanning the forums for a month or two now looking for a solution but to no avail. I'm not really a technology expert, in fact I'm about as lousy at computers as an infant, but I don't know what I can do to solve this problem. please please help me! If I don't get my videos back,I'll have no way to spend lonely saturday afternoons. LOL
