BSOD after update to Flash 10.2.152.26 using FF and Seamonkey

After updating to Flash 10.2.152.26, every time trying to open a webside containing flash (like youtube, adobe.de etc.), the system is freecing and a BSOD is following.

The module causing the BSOD is watchdog.sys.

The failure is happening all the time using Firefox 3.6.13 or Seamonkey 2.0.11.

System is Win XP Pro SP 3 with all actual security updates.

System security is done with Avira Antivir personal, Spybot S&D and Threatfire.

All programms have been installed weeks before and until the flash update there have been no BSOD for the last years.

My Questions:

- is this problem known to other persons using flash in combination with SS or Seamonkey - or with other programms running in the background like MSN, ICQ, YAHOO Messenger etc..

- How can I get an older version of flash - there is no download availlable on Adobes Webside

Does the BSOD also occur on the FP test page http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ ?

If not, right-click on the Flash object, Settings, then disable Hardware Acceleration.

Hello and thanks for your quick answer.

it seems the the reason was the hardware acceleration.

I reinstalled Flash plugin for alternative browsers.

First test with youtube using Seamonkey did not cause a BSOD after I switched off hardware acceleration - I hope it will work in the future, too.

Hi, I doubt if a Shockwave Flash plugin would cause a BSOD. Perhaps you didn't follow the correct procedures Uninstalling/Installing. Try the following:

Download and SAVE to your Desktop the Uninstaller:

    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html

Download and SAVE to your Desktop the Installer for IE- use the EXE Installer

    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html

Download and SAVE to your Desktop the Installer for FF- use the EXE Installer for plugin based (from the same site)

Close all browser windows, you only want to be looking at your Desktop.

Disable any messenger services, as yahoo, msn, etc in the system tray(area near the clock)

    Disable all Anti-Virus/Spyware programs

Be sure to use the Administrator Account.

Run the Uninstaller and when finished, Reboot(restart) your computer.

Check to make sure all Anti-Virus/Spyware programs are still disabled. Some will re-enable themselves on that first reboot.

Run the Installer for IE, Run the Installer for FF and when finished, Reboot.

Then go to this test site and test each browser:

    http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

You may want to print these instructions to make it easier to follow. If you have any questions, let me know.

    Thanks,
