C-media audio problems

I've been having problems with flash games and animations. Basically the problem used to be that each time a flash movie/game would try to play a sound, it would freeze for a second then continue (playing the sound properly). This would happen almost every time a sound was played and this was really irritating. I tried updating my sound drivers to the most recent, and this has just altered the problem. Now the movie/game freezes for a second after each sound.

My sound device is (I think) C-Media CM6501. It's a built in sound card on an Asus M2N-E SLI motherboard and I'm running Windows Vista. However before this PC I had an Acer laptop with a C-Media sound card and I was having exactly the same problem. I can't remember the specific details but it was running Windows XP.

Anyone know what the problem is?

I don't believe it is your sound card problem. I uses a creative live sound card and also have used the Cmedia on boards and have the same results that you have/ I myself believe it is a flash player problem handling the chnageover of sounds. I don't believe there is volume leveling in the flash player and it floods the memory used for conversion of sound until it catches up! That is putting it simply! Loud bass sounds and extremely loud theatre type sounds seem to cause the hangups. I>E>
