Question

Can anyone tell me how to fix this in lay-man's terms?

Hi.  I've installed and uninstalled the flashplayer on both the 32 bit and 64 bit Internet Explorer versions I have.  You tube and all things that play youtube videos will not work.  I click on a video and get a black screen and when I right click it says the video isn't running.

I don't really understand what others have posted because I'm not really technically saavy.  Can anyone please help me fix this?

Thanks.

Hi Dives77, This is what Pat is talking about. There were others that posted youtube issues after I posted to you, so this turned up.

YouTube just updated their video player, so the old version could still be cached in your browser causing it to fail. I would suggest rebooting, and if that's already done then make sure your drivers are up to date.

If that does not work make sure you download the new version of flash.  Posted3 hours ago
No, I had the exact same problem but it worked the second I cleared my internet cache which could have to do with what another user above said about that.

Go to tools, options, clear recent history, and only check the 'cache' option, clear now, okay, and then refresh or exit it and open it again. I didn't even have to restart my browser. I'm using firefox too, by the way. Good luck! I hope this helped!  Posted 2 hours ago
Let me know if that is the issue. I'm not done searching, but that's what I found so far.

Found an interesting post on the youtube forum (March 2011 http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Chrome/thread?tid=5bba3c5c06655a5d)

Hi guys - Brian from the YouTube team here - this sounds like a problem that unfortunately affects some people using the latest version of Adobe Flash (version 10.2). We're working with Adobe to address the issue, but in the meantime check out this article to learn more (and figure out how to disable hardware acceleration): http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/youtube/thread?tid=5b6f8b8b8014a6d6

So it seems that Google is (and has been) aware of the problem - what can we do...?

Please excuse us for "talking" Dives. This has nothing to do with you, so don't implement any of it, LOL Let me know if any of the "solutions" worked for you tomorrow. If not, we'll check on the Flash files and make sure everything is correct.

Pat, don't you remember this from early March? I've been trying to forget it, Ha-Ha This was all happening before 10.2.153.1 was released!! And you know that was a long time ago, in "update" time:-) Mid March FF 4.0 was just coming out, IE9 was just released, youtube wasn't working, Stage Video came out and who knows what else. We were having threads with 60+ posts. Wasn't it called the black screen of death? LOL I think it's back!!! Then we heard Adobe and Youtube were working on the issue and Youtube even had Uninstall/Install instructions on their site!! They weren't totally correct tho, LOL Hey, I even saved a thread for you to refresh your memory!! http://forums.adobe.com/thread/821884?tstart=0

Now, I'm going to bed. It's night time on my side of the world and I need to hurry before it's daylight, Ha-Ha

Hi, Can you tell me what Operating System you are using? XP, Vista or Win7? Also what version of IE(Internet Explorer) do you have? If you don't know for sure, go up to Help, open it and click on About Internet Explorer. It should tell you there.

Then go to the Adobe test site with the IE browser and let me know if you can see the Flash Player logo(Red F) animate(spin)

Also what version of Flash Player is shown as Installed?

    Test site:  http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

There may be a couple of other things to check, but that will depend on that test.

If you have any other browsers Installed, then test with each one in addition to IE.

    Thanks,

I have Windows 7 Home Premium, I have both versions of IE 32 and 64 bit.  I have the most recent version of Flashplayer installed on the 32 bit and gave up on the 64.
