Can't download Flash Player 10.1.85.3

I'm using Vista 64 with Firefox version 3.6.12. I have Flash Player version 10,0,45,2 installed.

Someone told me there was a new version of Firefox that fixes a new security issue. I checked my version and noticed i had Firefox version 3.6.2 installed. I went to Tools > Check for updates but it said it was paused downloading version 3.6.3. I tried to unpause it but it did nothing and i closed the update attempt.

I downloaded and instelled Firefox version 3.6.12. It told me it was now up to date but that Flash Player needed to be updated and gave me a link. I went to the page which said "Depending on your security settings, you may encounter these steps:". The first image shows Firefox with a bar at the top with an "Allow" button at the right. I had a bar at the top with a button saying "Install missing plugins". I clicked this button and Firefox responds with "No suitable plugins were found." and then has a line that reads "Unknown Plugin (application/getplusplusadobe16291)" with a button next to it saying "Manual Install". I didn't click this button because i have no idea how to find the plugin to manually install it. I clicked the "Finish" button which closed the dialog box.

I then clicked the "click here for troubleshooting information" on the Adobe page that said i "might encounter these steps". I bypassed troubleshooting step 1 because i'm not using Internet Explorer. Step two shows how to find my version info, which i did. Step 3 gives a link to uninstall previous versions of Flash Player, but the link goes to a page that tells how to uninstall Flash Player versions 10.1.x, which is after my current version.

Are there uninstall instructions for 10.0.x versions of Flash Player? I'd like to get it uninstalled so i can continue to try to install the new version.

Or, if someone knows that that's not my issue, please tell me what is and how i might solve it.

Thanks.

Adobe fixed the download problem. No action required by me.

I finally was able to install it directly. Try the direct download without the Download Manager:

    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash _player.exe

The uninstaller that can be downloaded from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html will uninstall all current and past Flash Player versions.

Download the installer for your browser from here http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html#main_ManualInstaller

Make sure that there are not browser windows open when you run the uninstaller and installer.

Thanks for offering to help. I can't make out your name, otherwise i would thank you personally.

The uninstaller page you sent me to is the same one i was talking about. It specifically says that it's only for 10.1. The last thing i want is to create more problems i can't fix by using the inappropriate uninstaller. Can you tell me what evidence you have for calling the page inaccurate?

Thanks again for responding and offering solutions.

No, it does not say that - the word "only" does not appear anywhere on the page.

If you watch the details of the uninstaller, you will see that it explicitly tries to uninstall all previous FP versions back to v1.
