Can't download flash player

I have tried to download flash player and it will not work. The download manager will download flash player, but it never runs on my computer. I am running windows xp sp3 + ie 9.  When I try to watch a video on the internet, it keeps saying I need to update flash player.  Any help would greatly appreciated

    Also tell us what files you have in C:\Windows \system32\Macromed\Flash

    Hi kokocuk, Using IE, go to Tools, Manage addons under "Show"(light text) and look in all 4 categories for Shockwave Flash Object. Is it Installed & Enabled? If it's Installed but Disabled, Enable it.
