Can't play Youtube

I am having serious problems with playing youtube videos. I have an HP HDX18 laptop running windows vista (64 bit) and my flash version is 11.7.700.179.

First of all google chrome can't play a video for more than 2 min as it starts changing qualities and then stops buffering altogether. I also notice that the qualities become unselectable.

All my other browsers have another problem. The video freezes after 2 min but the sound keeps going and the browser doesn't freeze. I have tried everything suggested by flash and also tried emptying the cache to no avail. Please help.

I think you might be onto something here. I tried the site and the videos work flawlessly.

Can you please tell me how to install a VPN?

A VPN is software you install on your computer.  Some of them are free, others charge a monthly fee of $6 and up.  I would try a free one first.  Make sure your country supports it.  The primary reason for a VPN is security.  Supposedly it encrypts everywhere your search making it hard for hackers to get in.  Mine does slow my internet speed some, but on the days when I can’t get into Youtube, it is the only thing that works.  The following link explains more about it.  http://lifehacker.com/5940565/   Do your research before selecting one.  Mine is activated by simply clicking on it.  It then connects to the internet in seconds.  Then you click on your internet browser.  Once you are connected you do not have to keep typing the URL link in it.  Just visit the Youtube site and click on the video you want to play.

Hello to who ever reads this.    I have had trouble with watching videos or should I say Adobe flash player for months.    I have worked with Chris,  but I gave up.    I went to my friends computers and they all have the same problem,   then I checked with my family and they also have the same problem.    I think that adobe can't fix this problem and now I run with an older version,  and it messes up a little bit,  but at least I can watch videos.     I refuse to update my adobe for this reason.     Needless to say I am pissed.

Have you tried using http://www.proxfree.com/youtube-proxy.php . This is what I am using for the time being untill flash or youtube sort this problem out.

The following link explains more about the problem.  I am convinced that Adobe has nothing to do with it.  It is either your ISP or Youtube or both.  http://forums.comcast.com/t5/Basic-Internet-Connectivity-And/Comcast-is-essentially-throttling-YouTube/td-p/1643809

First, lets try both of the videos linked below.  Do they both give the same results?  If the HTML5 video also exhibits the same behavior, please right click on the video and confirm that the last menu item contains the string "HTML5".  If it does, then Flash itself isn't to blame and we will need to look at something else as the culprit.

If the Non-HTML5 video is the only one with the problem, then please post a copy of your dxdiag report so we can take a look at your video driver details.

I have been working on this problem for two months.  I tried changing every possible setting in Adobe, nothing worked.  Deleting the cache or cookies didn’t work either.  The problem was my internet service provider, Verizon DSL.  I have also been told Comcast customers are experiencing the same problem.   Try typing the URL from the Youtube you are trying to watch in this site:  http://www.proxfree.com/youtube-proxy.php   If the video plays fine in that site, than your ISP is probably at fault, since they are connecting you to another server.  I finally solved the problem by installing a virtual private network; some are free.  If Youtube videos are acting up I turn the VPN on.  Then they work flawlessly.  For the days where they are working fine, I leave the VPN off.  End of problem.  I live in Washington, D.C. United States.
