I am helping a user who states his Flash Player vanished, when trying to download the latest version we are getting:

error message: "Installation failed. www.adobe.com/go/tn_19166"

The system is running Windows XP Pro and Internet Explorer 6. I have tried all of the troubleshooting and tips/tricks found here and via searching with Blackle. This user has to use all sorts of types of flash players to do his job and needs to get Adobe's running again. I have tried everything and he is NOT willing to reimage the pc yet. Can anyone help???

Try uninstalling Flash Player first, then do a clean install

The offline installer for Shockwave Player is here http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/shockwave/default/english/win95nt/latest/Shockwave_Installer_Slim.exe

More info: I removed the Shockwave to see if maybe that was part of the issue, went to re-install it and am now getting the exact same error.
