Cannot download Flash Player

I had the Flash Player installed on my Windows XP system running Firefox. However about 80% of web pages display blank with this plug-in so I had to constantly disable it. So I decided to uninstall and re-install. Uninstall worked fine. However I cannot even download the Player to reinstall. There error message says the plug-in finder is not working but there is no information on what to install.

Has anyone else experienced this?  Do you have a fix?

    Is this the installer that you have downloaded:

    http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe ?

    Make sure that no browser is running when you run the installer.
