I need to know how to download Flash player.  I have tried several times and had no success.  I have just purchased a new computer running windows 7

when I go on line and try to access a news clip I get a message that says I need to download flash player. They give you a box to click this takes you to  The Adobe page.  This gives me a line that says download flast player.  When I click on the line it simply goes to another page and on and on through page after page never giving you an option to start the download.  I cannot say how many pages you can pass through but I stopped at some where around 20.  I finally gave up.  Can you help?

Hi rh, assuming that Flash Player has never been installed on your computer, and you are running IE8, then here is the

Install site for IE which you would download and put on your Desktop:

    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe

Prior to installing, take a look at this Adobe troubleshooting article. This will give you an idea of some pre-install precautions to take so you will have a successful Install.

Thank you for your reply,  I looked at the trouble shooting page and it indicated that was for Vista,  I am running windows 7.  Will this be a problem?

Hi rh, the section #4 is for Vista which of course would not apply to you. It was the other sections that would, such as your security. If your security was set too high, this would prevent the installation of the ActiveX Control that is installed with Flash Player. Section #5 would apply to any OS. This explains the need to have Administrative privileges. IE7 and IE8, (which you have) are more restrictive than the previous IE6.  Then the section regarding Internet Utilities, such as Norton and McAfee.

These are just some issues that would cause problems when installing Flash Player and I just wanted to point them out to

you before you downloaded and installed. I always try to prep a user beforehand so as to have a successful install on the

first try, rather than having to troubleshoot afterwards.

The ideal way to Uninstall(which you don't need to do) and Install is to have the Installer on your Desktop. Close all browsers, disconnect from the Internet, disable any Firewall other than Windows, disable Anti-Virus/Spyware (with or without a Firewall). Run the Installer from your Desktop and when finished, Reboot. Then enable what you just disabled,

then reconnect back to the Internet.

The Java that you have installed would also be looked at in Programs and Features and some other after install files.

Please ask any questions that you have.

    Thanks
