Cannot play any flash videos (youtube) in IE, Other browsers work fine.

Things to note.

This is happening on two servers but not for all users. It is not consistent between Admin/Std user accounts.

I've matched IE settings with a working account, checked content filtering, cleared cache and cookies, removed/ reinstalled Flash, made sure flash is enabled, rebooted, tried safe mode, all of that.

System info

Windows SBS 2011 SP1 x64

Intel Xeon 2.4Ghz

16GB ram

IE 11 (current)

Again, flash works fine in other browsers.

I'm grateful for any help with this issue.

Hi,

I'm not familiar with Windows SBS 2011 and since it's not a supported platform, not something we test.

Have you checked to see if ActiveX Filtering is disabled (see ActiveX Filtering in Internet Explorer ).

youtube uses the html5 video player by default (https://www.youtube.com/html5), unless you have something configured to force youTube to play videos using Flash Player, such as using compatibility mode, which would force youTube to use Flash Player if it's installed.

Do you have a site other than youTube that definitely uses Flash Player that is not working?

Hello M_vargas,

I get that SBS2001 isn't supported but as I understand it, the fundamental components used to run flash are the same as other supported releases of windows.

I have verified that ActiveX filtering is disabled.

I just checked again and tried to watch videos on AlbinoBlackSheep.com. It seems that flash content that isn't hosted on youtube plays without issue.

Are you sure the videos you are attempting to view on YouTube are being delivered via Flash?  YouTube defaults to HTML5 video and has for a long time.  Please go to the YouTube URL in the first screenshot and right-click on the video and take a screenshot.  Post the screenshot in your reply.

Does this only happen on this system or can you reproduce it on other systems?
