Cant install Flash on iMac

Recent attempts to update Flash Player on my iMac (10.6.8 and the most recent Safari and Flash Player versions) always ends in failure. The install app runs quickly to 95 percent installed, stops there and never finishes. I have tried installing with no other apps running. Also used the Adobe Flash Delete app and then tried installing. All failed. Someone on this site said he was able to install when he went from a wireless connection to Ethernet, but my Mac is at work and I can only connect via wifi. At present Adobe Flash not installed on my machine. Any suggestions welcome.

    For the record, another source recommended doing the Flash Player

    install after a safe boot of the Mac. That worked, and the Player

    installed normally....

    Try the offline installer http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/latest/help/install_flash_player_osx.dmg

    The offline installer downloads the same installer I have tried

    before. Tried again from the link below but was not successful

    installing Flash. Installation stops at 95% completed.... -Carl
