Consistent Flash 10.1/Firefox Crash

Our application, which has run fine for the last year on all browsers and flash combinations, suddenly completely crashes any time we try to load it.  It was build using Flex 3 and hasn't generally had stability problems, but now in one configuration in will not load:

Flash Version: 10.1 (just updated it today)

OS: Windows XP

Browser: Firefox 3.6.4 (newest, updated today)

I've reproduced this crash on three systems.  Firefox Mac works fine, IE 7 on Windows works fine.

The app is at http://veracity.adometry.com/ and it crashes on startup with:

"The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed. No report available. Reload the page or try again"

Anyone seeing something similar?

You're of course assuming everyone uses FireTorrent.  That's not the case.  In fact, that's not solving the original problem.

And this stuff about Firefox's crash protection feature--it's not going to help.  We all have updated Firefox, and we all have seen that this does not solve anything.  We all have tried other methods, such as reinstalling or changing the timeout, and still nothing.  What should we all be learning (yes, even you eidnolb)?

We can't do anything!!!  Unless you want to perform some workaround that has its disadvantages, there is no link that anyone can share and no suggestions that anyone can suggest that will ultimately solve the original problem.  It's not a Firefox-Flash Player issue, it's only a Flash Player issue.  We started to see the problems with this update to Flash Player, NOT an update to Firefox.  That tells us it's Flash Player's problem, so stop sharing pointless links that all tell us to do the same things.

Firefox + Adobe Flash plugin crashes in the middle of the test speed:

    http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

    I use:

    - WinXP-sp3

    - Firefox 3.6.7   (or any other 3.6.x  and 3.5.x)

    - Flash 10.1

This was ok with Firefox 3.0.x

This crash problem is so bad it has caused not only Firefox to crash but my entire computer! I work from home and run an inbound sales script program on my computer that requires Flash to  view the Virtual Office. I had to completely uninstall Flash for now. I wasn't able to work! Adobe really needs to get on the ball and fix this pronto....or at least help me roll back to an older version that was stable!

You could search the Adobe Flash Player 10.0 over the net and use it...

I updated my firefox to version 3.6.6 and then I uninstalled the newest versions of Adobe, ran a search on google/adobe for the archived versions and installed a version of Adobe that is a few versions back. This seems to be working for me. My thinking is that this will buy me time while Adobe fixes the problem and then in four month or so I'll attempt an Adobe update.

    Hope this  helps

    Thank You Mikester01

I went back to Firefox 3.5 and that seems to be doing the trick for now. It works much better how ever on Chrome. Still have a few problems with Firefox. Will trey to get older version of Adobe.

I'm still using Chrome with absolutely no problems. Haven't used Firefox all week. Seems to me that although it appears to be a Flash problem, if Google can make it run on their browser, Firefox should be able to do the same.

I personally have loved using Firefox so I hope there is a proper fix soon.

I'll concur with this post, nothing I've tried has resolved the issue.  I've tried turning off the acceleration, changing the crash protection timeout, reinstalling, and more, and I still consistently get this crashing issue on a very vanilla version of Firefox.

A possible solution is to disable FireTorrent, at least that did work for me. Try it.

Ok, I know most people here are PC users, but for any Mac users that are having problems with Flash and Firefox I recommend trying Google Chrome. While Flash doesn't crash Safari or Opera, it tends to run funny on them. And of course it's still crashing Firefox, even with the recent 3.6.6 version.

But Chrome seems to be really stable and fast. They only offer it for intel Macs. I give it a thumbs up.
