"Couldn't Load Plugin." If I see that one more time ....

New laptop supplied today, with Windows 10 and Chrome installed. Getting started, first time I tried to run an application using Flash, I got the "Couldn't load plugin" comment. Checked settings, Flash definitely there, and enabled. Tried again. Installed Flash again, version is 19.0.0.226. Tried again, same answer. Went to Flash Player Help page, followed instructions, where "clouds" are supposed to appear, I got the "Couldn't load plugin" again. It's very important to me, can anyone help please?
