Displaying Japanese subtitles correctly

Hello,

I have an issue getting Japanese subtitles on a streaming video to display correctly.

Here is the video I would like to see with Japanese subtitles.

http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/jpn/tan_le_a_headset_that_reads_your_brainwaves.html

I am using Ubuntu Linux 10.04, and when I checked the version of Flash Player, it

said LNX.  Also it specified my OS as Linux 2.6.32-24.

The problem is the same in both Google Chromium and Mozilla Firefox.  The Japanese

subtitles are displayed as little boxes instead of real characters.

I just checked to see if I could display subtitles in other languages, and they work,

such as French, Russian, etc.  Chinese didn't work.

Could someone assist me with this problem?

Thank you.

I can see the Japanese subtitles just fine

but then I am using Windows, Firefox and Internet Explorer.

What is your Flash Player version (you just wrote LNX)?

Is your Linux a Japanese version?

If not, do you have Asian character support installed?

(Sorry, I don't use Linux, so my questions may be irrelevant.)
