I am unable to download the flash player on my iPad especially as I have no idea what version of safari I have

    Flash Player has never been supported on iOS devices, including iPad.  Your best option is to use a browser that renders Flash in the cloud.  An internet search for something like 'Flash browser iOS' will return some options.

    Yea, sorry I read that as iMac. Yes, indeed, nothing for iPad.

    You can find out easily what version of Safari you have by choosing Safari > About Safari (that is from the menu at the top of the screen). Please also tell us your version of macOS which you can find with Apple menu > About this Mac. Almost all apps have an About menu like this for version checking.
