Downloaded recent adobe flash player, but still getting message to download it when trying to watch videos!!!

I downloaded the new version of adobe flash player, but when I try to watch videos they don't play and I get the message saying I need to download latest flash player.  I'm trying to watch tv shows I've missed, and I can't watch them!!  Why is this happening?
