Question

downloading photographs

Since installing flashplayer 24, I can not download photographs sent to me in e-mails.  The download button does not help.  When I click on it, I get a thumbnail, but I can't find anyway to save it to disc in its larger original format.  I must be missing some very simple step, since such downloads are common practice.  I am using Windows 10 on a 1-year-old Lenovo computer.

My guess, if you look in Menu > Developer Tools > Console, is that you'll see a useful JavaScript or security-related error message when you try to download the photo using your webmail from Cox.

That said, if a recent Chrome update broke their webmail, Cox is probably already aware of it.  If they do determine that there's a language-level issue with the Flash Runtime that's causing this problem (that seems unlikely, but within the realm of possibility), they're best positioned to troubleshoot it and give us a detailed technical analysis.

You're more than welcome to refer the support folks from Cox to this thread, and should they need additional information or help from the Flash Runtime engineering team, they can send me a Private Message through the forums with contact information (just click my name) and I'll get a conversation going at the right level for them.

I'm a little lost by this suggestion. What "Menu" should I be looking

for? I don't see that link in Cox e-mail. Maybe Cox Communications

    overall? Adobe? Flashplayer?

Sorry about that.  There's a pretty high technical bar associated with that suggestion, and it's probably not a reasonable request (it would be arduously difficult with the sole benefit of satisfying my curiosity).

Cox Technical Support is really best positioned to help you with this problem.  Since I'm not a Cox customer, I can't troubleshoot it directly, but they'll be able to analyze the failure.  In the unlikely event that this is a Flash issue (I'm pretty sure that it's going to be a nuanced security change in the browser itself that has dinged their service), the folks at Cox are well positioned to reduce the problem to the specific language-level problem in ActionScript that's affecting them, at which point, we can pursue a fix.

    Thanks!

Under normal circumstances, Flash Player wouldn't have anything to do with your email.

Some details on your browser, what email program/service you're using, etc., would be really helpful.

When I try to download the photos, they say "about Adobe Flash Player,"

whether I use Firefox or Chrome to access Cox enhanced e-mail. I can

try sending one of these e-mails to my other address, which uses

Outlook, modified by Cal State Long Beach. I am reluctant to get

involved with Edge, having been dissatisfied with Internet Explorer in

    the past.
