EOL -Flash

Good Morning.

In our company we still have a website developed in flash, I would like to know if there is the possibility of continuing to access the application with previous versions of browsers and if we have the old adobe flash installers.

On the other hand, we would also like to know how risky it would be for us to continue accessing this website with these outdated browser versions as the best recommendation to follow from Adobe.

    We would strongly discourage you from just running an unpatched Flash Player in an old browser.  That's a pretty terrible plan. 

     

    That said, enterprises have managed to make legacy internal systems securely available to modern clients for as long as enterprise computing has been a thing, and given thoughtful design and implementation, you could engineer a way to do that safely.  It would require a non-trivial amount of investment, expertise and effort.

     

    There are also options to license (for a fee) maintained versions of Flash Player for use in your organization through our partner HARMAN moving forward.  This might be a reasonable and less expensive path forward, and the folks at HARMAN would be happy to talk to you about your specific situation and make a recommendation.

    How risky? Very risky. Flash is a constant source of attacks. Up until End Of Life, Adobe have acted fast to block the attacks. I think we can be sure that the bad guys are now holding back any new Flash attacks, so they can deploy them after Flash End Of Life, and catch millions of people and businesses who decided to take the risk.
