Firefox 2 reverts back to flash 7 plugin

Hi, I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.6 on Fedora core 5. I used Yum to install adobe flash plugin 9. after I installed it and restarted my browser, the plugin works correctly and I can right click a flash object and it says indicates version 9 in the "about" option. But after I quit my browser relaunch it to the same page with the same flash object, the player reverts to version 7. When I right click on the flash object on the page, the drop down menu will say "about macromedia flash player 7". The flash object in question is version 9 compliant.

To remedy the probelm. I have to `yum remove flashplugin`. start browser and load a flash object. quit browser. run `yum install flashplugin` relaunch browser and go back to the page with the flash 9 compliant object. This time it works, and the right click drop down menu indicates version9. But when I close and open firefox, the flash plugin in the browser goes back to using version 7.

I checked to make sure that the sym link in the firefox 2.0.0.6 folder points to the .so for the flash 9 plugin. I'm so tired of having to deinstall the plugin every time I need to see my flash flile.

thanks

check to see if you have two copies of the libflash in the pluggins folder.

I've started to notice that Yum doesn't always catch what it needs if your using a gui in fedora.

I suggest getting rid of all flash through a terminal and manually placing the lib.so into the pluggin folder (and when you do this the browser is not open).

This should just be a quick fix.

Same issue on Linspire (Debian-based) 5.0.229. Tried manually as tjwein suggested, same thing. How do I remove this version 7.0.25.0 so it can't keep coming back overriding (?) the 9.0.48.0? It's fine on my straight Debian system.
