Flash 10.1 MacOSX 10.5 "install failed"

I ran the installer to Flash 10.1 for Mac OS X 10.5.x. The initial run went to 90% and hung for several minutes. Similar installs on PCs ran almost immediately. I did notice that I had Tweetdeck for Adobe Air running. I quit it and no change in the installer. I force-quit the installer.

Now, I tried to run it but EVERY subsequent run has a PITIFUL error message that tells me NOTHING

That's it. Where are the logs that I can check or something? The support site has NOTHING for adobe 10.1. No wonder Apple hates them. Adobe 10.0.45 broke my company's flash videos. Now a zero day exploit? They deserve what they are getting.

Thanks anyway.

Hi, you might refer to this site:

This is a link from the above site:

Did you Install from this site?    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Maybe these troubleshooting sites will help.

Thanks for the effort, but I tried both. The Flash 10.1 did complete a successful install, but when I try to use it on the Nova site, it says I need Flash 5, and provides the plug in, which is the 10.1, which still doesn't work.

    Oh well.

Hi, thanks for posting back. I wish I knew more about Mac. I did work with someone the other day and I know that there is a SWF plugin that must be enabled. On the PC's an ActiveX Control is installed into the IE browser and that works with the Flash files. In Firefox and the other non-IE browsers, it is the SWF plugin. I don't remember which edition of Mac he had, but finally he went to Preferences? where the plugins are and Enabled the SWF and then it all worked. I don't know if that is your issue or not.

This is the thread if you care to look at it.

Did you go to this Adobe test site? http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

Is the Nova site the only problem? Are you getting the same message that Veccio is?

    Thanks,

    Further information:

I ran the Adobe flash uninstaller: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html

Then, I attempted to run the 10.1 installer. Same failure. Next, I downloaded the last version of Flash that does not break my company's videos: 10.0.42.34. It appeared to install and is working fine. Now, I try to run the 10.1 installer again. NOTHING.

I must say I hate that they moved from the Apple Mac OS installer to their own little undocumented installer. Being an IT pro, this downtime is really memorable and definitely souring my opinion of this platform even more.

I followed the same procedures with the same result. It sure would be nice to have this fixed. I tried to view a Nova science program and spent a lot of time working through the suggested fixes only to get the negative result. I have Firefox 3.6.8 and Mac 10.6.4.
