Flash 10 Installation fails

I am trying to install flash player 10 on Windows XP with Internet Explorer 8 and it fails.

I've tried different installation methods. The web (ActiveX) installation fails.

I tried "Flash Player 10 ActiveX.exe" or install_flash_player_10_active_x.msi

I receive the error  "Die Installation von Adobe Flash Player ist fehlgeschlagen. Hinweise zur
Fehlerbehebung finden sie unter http://www.adobe.com/go/tn
_19166_de"

This points me to a support document, that explains me how to uninstall
the flash player. This procedure results in the same error message again.

Would be nice if someone could help me.

Marcus - How can I ever thank you. I have been without my flash player in IE for at least 6 months. Every fix I've tried has not worked. I finally started a support ticket this past Friday. They got back to me today.

I followed their instructions for the uninstall. Then I got an email notification of your fix. I downloaded the install file from your Yahoo link.

I did the uninstall, being careful to be sure everything was closed. I ran it as an administrator. Then I rebooted. I ran the installer. It did not give me to option to run as administrator. I noticed it took a very long time. I think I read somewhere that subincl (or whatever that file is) has been included in this installer. I didn't realize there was a new installer out. I ran the installer and instead of the usual error messages, I had Flash! Finally. I rebooted and I still had Flash. I am in shock.

I downloaded the shockwave installer but I have not run it yet. I'm too afraid to mess with what's finally working.

Thank you so much for posting that. I finally have Flash again.

Edited to add: I forgot to mention that I carefully went through my downloads folder and deleted every instance of the Flash uninstaller or installer before I started. I don't know if it made a difference or not but there were at least 6 of them floating around.

you may want to try to install IE 7 and see if you can install the flash player then,

if not you may want to try to uninstall the flash player you have (delete the registry as well - the registry specific to the flash player).

I don't know where you found "Flash Player 10 ActiveX.exe" or" install_flash_player_10_active_x.msi".  The only offline ActiveX installer I know is http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe

Make sure that all IE windows are closed when you run the installer.
