Using Iolo Antivirus version 1.5.5, Flash Player 10 files FP_AX_CAB_INSTALLER.EXE and UNINSTALL_ACTIVEX.EXE are intercepted at installation as having the virus W32/Downldr2.EXAA .Have had false readings on one other piece of software (GameXP) because of the internal coding which the programmer recognized on feedback report and corrected, so might want to review the code on this.

My AV auto updated its deffiles earlier today and I was able to reinstall FP 10 without any problems.

I know that my AV, Command CSAV is/was based on the F-Prot engine so perhaps there is a link there?????

Adobe is closed for the US Thanks Giving - I doubt we will see any resolution to this for a few days.

In the UK. Yesterday my AV which is Command CSAV from Authentium also flagged up exactly the same virus warning. It reported that it could not disinfect. I ran a full system scan and it then reported that it had overwritten & deleted the infected files.

Flash Player is now not working but if I try to install it via IE or Safari my AV dynamic virus protection fires off at once, reporting the same infection again.

I would also be interested in a solution or fix.

We're in Canada and Bell Canada's Business Internet Security system also recognizes Flash 10 as containing a virus. The security system is unable to disinfect, so it has placed Flash in quarantine. Thus, Flash is constantly trying to reinstall itself on almost every webpage. Very annoying.

I have temporarily refused all Adobe downloads to avoid having download windows pop up constantly.

    Any solutions????

i had the same issue also. After updated flash (from IE), F-Prot antivirus claimed the file "C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\uninstall_plugin.exe" included "W32/Downldr2.EXAA"
    (report shown: [Found downloader] <W32/Downldr2.EXAA (exact)> C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\uninstall_plugin.exe)

using Window xp home, F-prot 6.0.9.1 with scan engine 4.4.4.

I'm having the same issue. I keep getting the security warning popup window that flash player installer wants to install itself. However flash player 10 is already installed and works on many sites including here. So, it makes me wonder what's really trying to get installed. Should not the activex flash player have installed itself back when I installed flash player 10 several weeks ago?
