Question

Flash 23 and 24 fullscreen not working on Chrome, external monitor

Hi,

My Flash has automatically updated I assume because all the control panels have changed. I use it everyday for `livestream/news` so I know everything seems changed now.

I'm on an iMac with Mac OS Sierra and it's worked every video playback has worked on my external monitor everyday.

Now, on version 23, on fullscreen on an external monitor, it no longer shows the full picture for full screen, it shows a corner and the rest is white. I can play and pause in the "not working" areas but I just can't see anything. (Picture included)

I tried version 24 to see if that would work but it didn't.

I also tried to roll back to version 22 but all the packages seem to automatically load 23. Not nice !

I really need my news programs to run fullscreen on the external monitor while i work.

I hope there's a fix.

I've tried changing some options like hardware acceleration as some posts suggested, no change.

I even tried uninstalling flash, reinstalling google chrome and then reinstalling flash. No luck.

Suggestions and Advice wanted.

I also know it works in Firefox but I don't like using firefox.

Thanks!

Also, for what it's worth, the issue seems to be specific to combinations of a retina Macbook and a sub-4K external display.  If you use an 4K or Retina external display, this issue is not reproducible.

Still having the problem. The external screen is not the problem as I tried on 2 screens and 1 TV.

Here are mine:

I am also having the same issue on my MacBook Pro with Sierra. Any updates on solutions or workarounds (other than using FF)?

It seems like this is a class of similar problems, and not a single, distinct one.  We definitely fixed one instance of this, but it seems like there are other problematic configurations.  We're continuing to investigate based on the feedback after the first fix, but I don't have an ETA at this time.  If another browser works for you, that's probably the best avenue at the moment.  I don't think there's anything you can do from your side to work around it, beyond using a single display.

Hi, still have this problem. I'm on 25.0.0.148. Does it contain the fix?

Hello Everyone.
I am using a MacBook Pro with the following specs:

This is the screen setup, both external displays are the same, both experience this issue.

They are currently connected to the thunderbolt ports of the MacBook Pro

This is the arrangement, with external screens in the top corners.

The secondary screens both have this setup

The main screen has this setup:

This is the chrome://version page:

Finally, it is worth noting that I experienced this graphics bug while the video player's Right-Click-> Settings -> Hardware acceleration was both enabled and disabled with full browser restarts after toggling it.

However, going to the chrome://settings -> "+ Show Advanced Settings" -> System -> Hardware Acceleration and disabling it there, then restarting chrome DID fix the issue.

We were *finally* able to find a machine in our labs that reproduced it (It's definitely a small subset of Macs), and the next update should resolve it (assuming all affected machines have the same problem).

Any idea as to when this update will be online? I've been having the same issue and have been scouring the internet for an answer.

Thanks ahead of time.

Cool, thanks.  The pattern that's starting to form for me is that the external monitor is a significantly lower resolution than the laptop.  I have a couple folks scouring the office for old monitors and TVs.  I'm just waiting on feedback at this point.

hello, just wanted to let you guys know that I dont think it's an issue with significantly lower monitor resolution.

I have the same issue on a mbp (MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015, GPU: Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB) and 27" monitors (dell if that matters) with 2560 x 1440. Although the mbp has the retina resolution of 2880x1800 one of my monitors is almost new and has no problems other than this bug

for me this problem only occurs in chrome and not on FF. Something google did in late Q3/Q4 I think introduced this bug

Thanks again for the report and for everyone's input.  We were able to track down a couple machines that reproduce the issue yesterday, and were able to investigate and debug the problem.  It appears to be a recent injection in Chrome, and we've reported it to our counterparts at Google.  We'll continue to keep an eye on that and offer support until the issue is resolved.

FYI - I have experienced the same issue, and I'm glad I found this thread so that I know the cause.

In case it helps:

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014)

2.6 GHz Intel Core i5

8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Intel Iris 1536 MB

External monitor is a Samsung.

Sites that I've had issues with include WatchESPN.com, Pac-12.com/live, btn2go.com. (I watch a lot of sports.) The issue is only with Chrome - it does not replicate with other browsers.

Google flags that one as a malware site, just FYI.

Hi, I did but received one reply saying to update to the beta version.

I replied saying that I already did so a as one of the first things I tried and it was no help.

I have received no reply since.

Other suggestions?

I should add that I thought it was find on Firefox but firefox seems broken as well, same issue but another part of the picture is shown, not the top left corner but more of the center. Flash is unusable now on full screen

Bug#4197371 - Flash player does not work on full screen on chrome or firefox

I can confirm that I have the same issue with flash videos being played on external monitor hooked up to a Macbook Pro with Mac OS Sierra. Part of the video is visible in the upper left quadrant, the rest of the screen is blank.

Retina Macbook Pro 15 inch (Mid-2014) with NVIDIA  GeForce GT 750M playing videos on chrome.
