FLASH ADDED VIRUSES TO MY MAC

I didn't want to install flash, but I had to. Then, it added cleaners and other nefarious software. This happened before with Flash. I had to get on the phone with Apple and have the viruses removed. I may have to reformat my computer.

I am sick of this, and think Adobe should be held accountable.

I am prepared to sue and hope others do so, too. This is the ONLY major software company that pulls this kind of shit.

    Flash Player installer downloaded from .adobe.com or .macromedia.com do not bundle 'cleaners' with them.  Not sure what you mean by 'other nefarious software'


    From where did you download the installer from?  What is the name of the you used to install Flash Player.  What did the installer dialog look like, a screenshot would be helpful.

    a “flash required” window popped up on my mac and I clicked it. I forgot what it was for.

    This has happened before, and I had to sit with apple for 2 hours to get the viruses off my computer.

    It started downloading flash and had a bunch of questions, to which I answered “no,” but something got in and “scrubber” is now in my system and keeps forcing me to click their link. At least this time, I can click 2 links and it goes away. Last time, it froze my entire computer. This MIGHT happen again. Apple says I will need to reformat the disk if so.

    It “scans” and tells me I have 300+ at risk files.

    Sorry, I’m on my computer A LOT, and usually take very good care of it. This is the first time I’ve had a mac, and, again, ADOBE is the only download that this happened to.

    It doesn't sound like an official installer dialog window.  There are a few different installer dialog windows:

    Online installer:

    The offline installer:

    If the installer dialog didn't look like any of these, it wasn't an official installer.  If you have the link to where the file was downloaded from (history) please private message it to me and I'll forward it to our fraud department that handles these issues.
