FLASH installed on Mac OS - but doesn't run

FLASH installed on Mac OS- all browser plugin preferences updated - but doesn't run

I have installed and reinstalled and updated preferences to allow plug ins on but it doesn't play video on school website  -  when I try to watch demonstration video on secure website  just gives me error message that flash needs to be updated

Help please!!!!!
