Flash not working in Edge/Microsoft Surface

Flash videos stopped loading, and the test on adobe flash website says flash is disabled (even though it is enabled).

Flash was working fine on Edge until a week or so ago, and suddenly no longer. It still works in Explorer, but I am no longer using Explorer.

Any help or ideas? I have already assumed the issue was with Edge, but I ran through a remote support session with Microsoft and they indicated no registry or permission errors...

We're not aware of a widespread issue affecting Edge.  We also don't have any control over the distribution or installation of Flash Player on Windows 8 and higher.  We provide Microsoft with a binary, which they distribute directly through Windows Update.  I hate to send you in circles, but it's ultimately their issue.

That said, my experience has been that if the Flash Player included with IE or Edge gets in a bad state, uninstalling the last update for Edge from Programs and Files and then reinstalling it by running Windows Update again usually gets things back to a working state.

It's also possible -- particularly if you're only seeing this on a particular site or handful of sites -- that Edge has changed something, and the websites aren't detecting Flash Player through JavaScript, even though it actually is working and installed.
