Flash not working on some pages since going back to 10.0 from 10.1

Hi,

what I did: After using final of 10.0 for some time, I installed the beta of 10.1 and, when it came out, the final of 10.1. I noticed, that scrolling on pages containing flash was very choppy with OS X 10.6.3 and Safari 5. So I uninstalled 10.1 and installed 10.0. After that, much flash content isn't working correctly anymore. I can't view videos from dailymotion.com for example. Another example: www.wmprophet.de The content simply doesn't get displayed at all.

Even uninstalling 10.0 and installing 10.1 final again (or beta of gala) didn't help.

Any ideas?

Ok, problem solved. This is what I did:

    http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r21439369-flash-10-wont-save-settings:

This is a fix for quite a few mac flash 10 problems I noticed people talking about on the internet.

I know this is getting old but make sure you fix permissions first. Then in your home folder delete the Flash Player folder that is inside both Library/Caches/Adobe andLibrary/Preferences/Macromedia.

For some reason Flash Player is unable to properly write data to those folders even after an uninstall and reinstall. This is probably due to corruption of the folders. I think Adobe should try to find out what causes the corruption after an upgrade.

    Thanks to all posters here.

Ok, I think I know the reason for this strange behavior: I can't change anything in the global or local settings of flash and therefore sites/flash content are (at the moment) not allowed to store anything.

Every time I move the slider to the right, the setting isn't saved and the slider is on Keinen/nothing the next time I open the global settings.

Seems to be a problem with rights management, but I did check permissions with the disk utility tool…

Safari 5 is manifesting some problems rendering Flash content as it becomes more widespread in its distribution. Unfortunately, I don't see anything at Apple that says they've put it to the top of their priorities to fix.

Have you tried going back to Safari 4?

Hi.  I am also having problems with 10.1.  It is supposedly installed but yet whenever I try to download any video I get a message telling me to upgrade my Flashplayer.  I have tried every thing I could think of - including going tot the internet plugins folder in the library and removing the files to the trash.  Also the same for the utility file.  I do notice, as you were told earlier, that some of the files are from an earlier attempt - even though I did an uninstall and removed them physically - AND did a secure empty of my trash files!!  If you get anywhere please let me know (photos1957).  I posted about 2 and a half hours ago.

    GOOD LUCK

Hi, until the person that helps with the Macs comes on the forum, if this was a PC, I would say the Flash files are mixed. What I mean is that sometimes with Uninstalling and Installing more than once, some files do not get removed and are still there and some new ones do get installed.., hence a mix.

If you know where the Flash files are, you might want to check them. I'd help more if I could, but don't understand the Mac as well as the PC.

    Thanks,

    Hey,

thank you. That's what I'm guessing, too. But, unfortunately, I don't know which files to delete in order to uninstall flash completely, besides using the uninstaller. I tried searching for files containing flash in their name but didn't find any suspicious ones.

Perhaps the Mac-guy knows better .

Hi, And I can't be any help either, since I know only that there is a Finder, a Library and I think a click sends things to the "trash" bin? LOL My sister has a new iMac and that is the only reason I even know that:-) She was asking me some things, so I did venture over to her house. Of course I had more questions than she did. I should learn the Mac at least relating to Flash Player.

I'll see if I can send a smoke signal to the Mac person:-)

    Thanks,
