    Hi Chris,

After my other posts and with "Users Account Control" (UAC) turned ON, I downloaded FlashPlayer 10.3.181.26 (minus the tool bar) using the Download Manager. After the download and installing screens and the agreeing to the agreement screen, I am told that IE is in conflict and to close it to proceed with the install. I close IE 9 and the program finishes installing then I close the Download Manger screen.

As I said when IE 9 automatically restarts FP 10.3.181.26 works great. I can verify that FP 10.3.181.26 successfully installed and by opening TABs in IE 9, I can use FP 10.3.181.26 with several other websites that require FlashPlayer.

But when I close IE 9 after the automatic restart and reopen it, FP 10.3.181.26 stops working except when I reopen IE 9 with "RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR". FP 10.3.181.26 "ONLY" works using TABs in IE 9, if a NEW window is opened in IE 9 then FP 10.3.181.26 will not work.

Again, with "Users Account Control" (UAC) turned ON, FP 10.3.181.26 works when I reopen IE 9 with "RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR" and FP 10.3.181.26 "ONLY" works using TABs in IE 9, if a NEW window is opened in IE 9 then FP 10.3.181.26 will not work.

    Hi Chris,

"UAC" is turned ON. I decided to turn it ON and leave it turned ON. The "Active X Control" Shockwave Flash Object in ENABLED. When "UAC" was turned OFF the "Active X Control" Shockwave Flash Object was also ENABLED. So "Active X Control" Shockwave Flash Object is ENABLED whether "UAC" is turn OFF or ON. Remember, "UAC" is ON.

Do you know what files are supposed to be in the Flash directory with Vista SP2 and IE 9?

Here is a screen shot of my Flash directory:

if you can not read it, the contents are:

    FlashPlayerTrust (folder)

    Flash10t.ocx,

    FlashInistall.log,

    FlashUtil10t_ActiveX.dll and

    FlashUtil10t_ActiveX.exe.

    Hi Chris,

A new version of a software, which only increases the number in the 4th digit is against the rules of Windows Installer!

The 4th digit is in common sense only used to number compilations.

    See: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa370859%28v=vs.85%29.aspx

What are your SW-folks thinking, when they are versioning their software?

Your by far largest user group are Windows folks!

This causes big problems with the MSI-Installers of your software!

The MSI-Installer is typically used in mass deployments.

This is the third time in this year (1 Shockwave, 2 times Flashplayer)

So, please correct that in future releases.

    Regards, Nick

    Hi Nick,

I'm going to pass this along to our installer folks.  Thanks for the heads up.

Chris, no problems downloading, installing and using flash win.10.3.181.26.

Tried TV, movies, DVD's, youtube several other flash sites; all OK.

No need to alter hardware or software acceleration.

Even after 17 Windows updates and flash and reader updates it still works.

    Hi Chris,

I am encountering the same problem with FlashPlayer 10.3.181.26 as I did with FlashPlayer 10.3.181.23. See my post “FlashPlayer 10.3.181.23 works then doesn't, What's wrong?” on June 7, 2011.

    To recap:

I am using 32 bit Vista SP2 and 32 bit Internet Explorer 9. I downloaded FlashPlayer 10.3.181.26 (minus the tool bar) using the Download Manager. After the download and installing screens and the agreeing to the agreement screen, I am told that IE is in conflict and to close it to proceed with the install. I close IE 9 and the program finishes installing then I close the Download Manger screen.

When IE 9 automatically restarts FP 10.3.181.26 works great. I can verify that FP 10.3.181.26 successfully installed and by opening TABs in IE 9, I can use FP 10.3.181.26 with several other websites that require FlashPlayer.

But when I close IE 9 after the automatic restart and reopen it, FP 10.3.181.26 stops working.

By turning OFF the “Users Account Control” (UAC)  FlashPlayer 10.3.181.26 works but I don’t want to turn OFF UAC.

FlashPlayer 10.3.181.14 (with IE 9) worked FINE and I have made NO software additions or modifications.

For screen shots see my previous post “FlashPlayer 10.3.181.23 works then doesn't, What's wrong?” on June 7, 2011. They have not changed except for the numbers, .23 is now .26.

It seems that after the automatic restart of IE 9, IE 9 knows where to find the FlashPlayer 10.3.181.26 files. But when I close IE 9 and reopen it it doesn’t know where to find the FlashPlayer 10.3.181.26 files.

Are you still seeing this?  I took a look at the direct download sites (here and here) and both those appeared to have the .26 release.

    Thanks,

When will the Licensed downloads versions be updated for Shockwave (still at 11.5.9.620)  and Flash players (still at 10.3.181.22/23) ?
