I am using the latest version (10) of Flash Player with IE7 and discovered that there is no audio. I do have audio with WM Player11. I had audio before and believe this problem occurred after updating to version 10.

Actually donbolin, I too had this problem.

I asked someone what I could do.

And this is what they suggested to me to do, which I did, and worked like a charm.

First of all, back up all of your files and transfer them to a brand new user account on the same PC.

I did that by creating a second Adminstrator account. I moved all of my stuff into the new one, and hey presto, the sound worked in the Internet Browser!!

    Hope I helped.

p.s. I know that this procedure is lonnnnng and enduring , but it did really help.

Why should we have to go to extremes like this to get something to work that wasn't broken before? It appears that Adobe screwed something up and so far has made no attempt to fix it or even acknowledge that they have created a problem!!! It also appears that Adobe has no official support for Flash Player, imagine that!

    Hi donbolin-
I was waiting for another XP person to reply to you, but I'll try to help.
You can view FP vids OK (like the skateboarding dog in thetechangel.com fix) but without sound?
If you haven't rebooted since trying that fix (or since installing FP10) then do so. Go to the "Version Checker for Adobe Flash Player" to verify your installation (Adobe Support/Download Help/Adobe Flash Player Support).
Then try this: open IE7, go to Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/scroll down to Multimedia. Make sure the box "Play sounds in webpages" is checked, save, etc. (sometimes FP installations change settings). You can also check your default settings; but I don't remember how and don't have access to XP at the moment (sorry). There are some other threads at forums.techarena.in regarding this issue (also with FP9), go there and do a search like "No Sound on Flash Player" and you'll see some registry and other ideas. I'll see if I can round up an XP pc and check it out.

Hello Gary, thanks for your response. Yes, I have video but no audio. Audio is fine with Media player. The version is 10..... as with all others having this problem. I'm not sure when I lost the audio, but suspect it was when I updated to this version as it was working previously. I've tried most of the suggestions such as: Remove and reinstall, check for wavemapper in the registry, checked for play sounds in web pages, etc.No resolution yet. Is there a proper way to revert to version 9? I had that before this update and didn't have any problems with it.

I have the same problem with no audio. Had it with adobe flash player version 9, tried to uninstall this and install version 10. Still no audio. I have checked _ALL_ the settings above. Tried it for my installation of Internet Exploerer and Firefox, with no luck, since I would be happy if just one of these installations worked.

Is it really true that there is no bullet proof procedure to make this work again ?
