Flash Player 11.3.300.262 doesn't work properly

OS: Win7 64bit

Browser: Mozilla Firefox 13.0.1

Flash Player: 1.3.300.262

So, I updated the Flash Player version days ago and immediately noticed some problems. I re-installed it many times, now some problems are gone but there is still one. While playing The Sims 3 it often crashes saying that the Flash Player is missing even though I just installed it (again). I don't have any problems using it with Mozilla Firefox anymore, this is the remaining one.

Some older games REQUIRE the flash file to be named precisely "flash.ocx" --- which is what was used many years ago.   Nowadays, Flash uses a longer name, based on the file's version.

For your windows 7, 64 bit system, I believe the flash file you want should be located in the

C:\WINDOWS\systemWoW64\Macromed\Flash

subdirectory... see if you can find a file there named (something like) Flash32_11_3_300_257.ocx .

If so, RIGHT-click on that file, select COPY.   Move your cursor to any blank space on your desktop, RIGHT-click and select PASTE.   RIGHT-click on the desktop file you just created, and RENAME it to simply "flash.ocx" [CONFIRM the file-rename, if asked].  Finally, "drag" the renamed file from your desktop, into the Flash folder mentioned above [CONFIRM file-movement of Read-only file, if asked].

Emphasize you now will have two Flash-related .ocx files in that subdirectory --- the one with the original (long) name, as well as the copy you created with the shorter name.   Hopefully, that will do the trick, and allow your game to work.

Note:   If this solves your SIMS problem, you will have to repeat the process everytime you run the Flash UNinstaller, to update to a newer version.

Did you happen to run the Flash Player uninstaller (the stand alone utility)?  Your playing Sims 3 as a stand alone game, not a web based game, correct?

I don't think so. I just uninstalled it like I do when I want to uninstall other programs. (I click the Start button, Control Panel, Programs, Programs and Features and then I uninstalled the Flash Player.) Yes, it is a stand alone game, not a web game.

I just figured out that the problem is because the flash.ocx was missing. Now I installed it but the problem still occurs. The message "Can not find flash.ocx" appears everytime I close the Sims 3 Launcher.
