Flash Player 11.7 frame drops

I just installed Flash 11.7 beta for Windows 7 64 using Firefox. I am getting tons of frame drops watching youtube videos non full screen in 720 p that I wasn't getting 11.6 according to the "show info" option. When I watch the movie in full screen, the show info says no dropped frame for reference.

A video with tons of motions, and colors. In 11.7 beta, through the 5 minute mark, show info states that I have dropped more than 4500 frames. I watch the same video again in 11.6, and the frames dropped is less than a hundred.

Edit: forgot to mention I am using a desktop, with a q8200 quad core, paired with a Nvidia GTX 460 GTX with the latest drivers. I am also checking my cpu cycles through task manager and it mostly stays in the 20 range and rarely fluctuating to the 50's.

Just tried the new beta version, with the same results. More than a thousands frames dropped through the 1 minute mark, in both full and non full screen mode. It also says "acclerated video accleration in both."

I also have another machine with the same ballpark specs that is having the same problem.

This issue is fixed as of Flash Player 11.7.700.165.

If you right-click on the Youtube Video and choose Show Video Info, does it show "Accelerated Video Info" and "Accelerated Video Decoding"?

If so, can you provide me with the output of DXDiag? I want to know what video card and driver version you have.

Also, what does the dropped frames with HTML video playback look like in comparison?

Here is the thing I noticed. In 11.6, if playback via full screen any youtube video, it says "accelerated video decoding" without any frame skips. If it is not in full screen, the video info changes to "software decoding," but it still doesn't skips frames. It has been this way since forever, as long I remember since Flash added the option for video accelerating in the first place.

However, starting with 11.7 it says "accelerated video decoding," for both non full screen and full screen. It skips frames in both modes.

Then I tried to disable hardware acceleration via the flash config. Despite the setting change, 11.7 still says "accelerated video decoding," and exhibits the same exact behavior skipping frames despite me disabling hardware acceleration.

Its is odd to say the least, but I watch all my videos via 720p and most of the time non full screen so you see how this can be a problem for me. It would also be ideal if I can renable hardware accleration and for it work as intended b/c it is handy when I watch 1080p video.

As for the the new video in HTML 5 shows not a single dropped frame according to "show info" option on the html 5 player. I also attached my DXdiag below.

Thanks. There's definitely a bug in some optimized color conversion code in 11.7 that affects video playback. I'm seeing a related spike in crash data coming back from the field, but it might cause performance issues as well. That issue should be fixed in the beta build that goes out later today. It would be interesting to know if you continue seeing this problem after the update.

I actually see the opposite result when I look on my primary windows test machine (it's a different video chipset), where I'm seeing a lot of dropped frames in 11.6 and almost none in 11.7. I'll keep looking into it, but please let me know if this build shows an improvement for you.
