Flash Player 22 Installed On Mac No Longer Operating

IMAC  OS X El Capitan  10.11.5   and Safari 9.1.1

Have had Flash Player installed for many months with setting Notify Me For Updates - non received recently.  Player now inoperative with caption on Videos  saying Flash Player out of date.  Visited Adobe site to download latest version but is  same as already installed  - 22.  Flash Player is enabled in Safari. Uninstalled and reinstalled version 22 - same problem.

Apple help pages dated 20 Jun suggest click on the out of date caption and then click on download for an update version. When I do this it takes me to Adobe site and the option is for the same version 22.  Apple Help saying if problems remain contact Adobe.  How can I get Flash Player operating again?

Thanks Maria - I have only just seen your kind reply and before I saw it I'm pleased to say I have already managed to solve this having decided/ discovered I needed to ensure the uninstall of the blocked version was  complete. Your reply had I found it earlier was just what was needed!!  Many thanks.

Hi,

Flash Player version 22.0.0.192 is the latest version.  If you have that installed and Safari is blocking it as being out-of-date, the issue is with Safari, not Adobe.

At this point, I would recommend performing a clean install of Flash Player:

  1. Delete all previously download Flash player install files from your system, including deleting them from the trash
  2. Launch Safari and go to https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer and download the installer for version 22.0.0.192
  3. Go to Uninstall Flash Player for Mac OS  and download the uninstaller
  4. Quit all browsers (they need to be quit out of, not just closed)
  5. Run the uninstaller
  6. Restart your computer, make sure the checkbox for 'Reopen windows when logging back in' is NOT checked.
  7. Run the installer downloaded in step 2
  8. After installation completes, launch Safari and navigate to https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html - it should display version 22.0.0.192 as being installed.
