Flash Player

I've tried to download Flash Player 4 times and have gotten the same error message each time. I even turned off my anti-virus software & turned off my firewall too. Still the same error message. The black Flash Player Installer window comes up & it gets to 50%, stops, & says "Failed to initialize". My operating system is Windows XP. Please, someone tell me what is wrong because I really need Flash Player.
