Flash Player 9 not working on Mac OS X (Firefox and Safari)

Hello,

I run an Intel-based Mac with Mac OS X 10.4.9. Latest Firefox (2.0.0.4) and Safari browsers.

Everything seems to be fine when I install Flash Player 9. Until the install software brings up my default browser (Firefox) to "adobe's successful installation screen" where I don't get the message, rather I get the message I must install Flash Player... and there we go again.

I've tried installing it 3 times, rebooting everytime;
I tried uninstalling it, reboot, and installing it again X2;

Now I don't know what to do... can anyone help me please?

Thank you!!

    Hey man!

    Here's what I did:
    quote:

    1. To open Disk Utility, from your Applications folder, open your Utilities folder, then double-click the Disk Utility icon.

    2. In the column on the left, click your startup disk's icon.

    3. Click the First Aid tab, and then click Repair Disk Permissions. Disk Utility will reset any files and folders with incorrect settings.

    After that, simply reinstall Adobe Flash Player and you're good!

    Hope that helps! Lemme know!

    Would these steps be the same for Internet Explorer? Because I can't find Utilites/Applications anywhere, and I'm having the same exact problem.

    I have spent 6 days trying to install Flash 9 and Quicktime - Neither will install. E-Mac using Firefox but forever having to accept 'anything' (ticking the box at the bottom)- I cannot get Quicktime again either, (it just stopped working) even though I follow Instructions. ! HELP

    I read on here that if you first installed Flash Player in May, 2006 or earlier, then you need to uninstall that version before installing the Flash Player 9 version. Tha'ts what I've figured out so far, having the same problem, with Firefox on a PC (Win XP). Good Luck, - Frank
