Flash Player alternative - is there one?

Adobe obviously don't care about all those fake flash updates going around - after all Flash is a freebie so why should they bother?. Does anybody know if there is an alternative? Adobe can get stuffed if there is, in fact it might even be a scam by Adobe to get us to buy their professional software. If anybody knows of a good Flash Player alternative please post the details here.

There are a couple open-source Flash Players, but building Flash Player is incredibly difficult.

The solution for avoiding fake software is pretty straightforward - always download software directly from the vendor's site.  While we do pursue some of these things through legal channels, the reality is that criminals aren't really particularly responsive to cease and desist letters.  This is one of those Sisyphean tasks - you knock one down and ten more pop up.

So, you can always get Flash Player at http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer

If that's not acceptable, just search for "Open Source Flash Player" and you'll find some alternatives.
