flash player and proxy behaviour

Hi,

I'm after some clarification on how flash player does (or doesn't) work with a proxy. My understanding is that it will try RTMP on port 1935 first going direct. In our environment this won't work so what happens then? Does it try 80 and 443 again going direct or does it use the browsers proxy settings for those? If it tries direct and fails does it then failback to RTMPT but pick up the proxy settings?

I have tried to find this info but have been unable to find it clearly described.
