Flash player behaving oddly

I am  trying to learn how to put flash into a website using Dreamweaver. Yesterday everything ran just fine. Today when I tried to do a live preview of my website I was asked to update my Adobe Flash Player. I did so and now where the FLV file should be showing I have instead all the control buttons, forward arrow, pause, stop, etc. I uninstalled Adobe Flash Player and downloaded and installed the newest version. I was again asked to update my flash player which was odd. I did update it even though I had just downloaded and installed the newest version. Now I am back to arrows, and pause buttons and the like.

I am running Windows Vista 64 bit.  Please keep your answers simple. I am not all that techie but I am determined to figure out how to do this!

thanks

    Can you see the Flash animation at http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ and some version information beneath it?

    Yes. The version info is  You have version 10,1,53,64 installed

    Very frustrating. Hope you can help me noodle this out.

    Two things you can try:

    • disable hardware acceleration (Flash Player Settings);
    • update the device drivers for your graphics/video/display adapter.

    To go to the Flash Player Settings, right-click on any Flash object and select Settings...

    If that does not work, try the driver update; let me know if you need any help with this.
