Flash player causes Internet explorer to shut down

how do I fix the sudden internet explorer shut down caused by flash. i use internet explorer 6 with windows xp service pack 2. is there some way of configuring something to make the shut downs stop. i just can't figure it out. my old flash didn't do this. it was fine till i upgraded now i can't even get my old one back :

    This happens to me too!
    But on Mac and with both Firefox and Safari...
    Did you find anyway to solve it?
    I've tryed everything I can come up with and red about...

    are you using flash 9 ? .. it has caused lots of probs.

    try the new version http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=44&catid=184&threadid=1201886&enterthread=y
