Question

Flash Player "disabled" in secondary Windows 10 account

I am using Windows 10 (64-bit) with the Adobe Flash v21.0.0.182 imbedded in that installation. My issue is with my wife's account in our Windows 10 desktop system, and within Microsoft Edge. Both my own account and my wife's are set up as "administrator" accounts. Within my own account and the Edge browser, Flash Player is working fine and running the Adobe test shows it is active. However, recently Flash has stopped working in my wife's Windows account for a bridge playing application (betterbridge.com) that she plays online. When I run the Adobe test from her account, it shows Flash Player installed, but inactive. However, when we follow the proposed solution to turn Flash Player on in Edge "Advanced Settings," it shows it as already "on." In fact, the settings in her account are exactly the same as in mine where Flash works just fine. I've tried everything I know to activate Flash Player in her Windows account, but cannot get it to work. It's frustrating to know it's installed as embedded in Windows 10, and working in my Windows account, but not in hers. What options do I have to enable Flash Player in that second account on our desktop PC with Windows 10 using Microsoft Edge browser? Thanks.

    Hi,

I'm sorry you are encountering issues with Flash Player on Windows 10 and IE/Edge browsers.  We area aware of account issues on Windows 10, where one account will work and another will not for seemingly no reason, and with no action on the user's end.  We've escalated this to Microsoft but neither us nor they have been able to reproduce.  Since Microsoft embeds Flash Player in the browser on Windows 10, and all updates are released by Microsoft, not Adobe, the best thing to do is contact Microsoft for assistance at https://support.microsoft.com or http://answers.microsoft.com

Please note:  If someone at support.microsoft.com or answers.microsoft.com asks/tells you to uninstall Flash Player for IE/Edge do NOT do this.  Since Microsoft embeds Flash Player in the browser they do NOT offer a separate installer.  If you delete the embedded version it'll be very difficult, at best, to get Flash Player for IE/Edge back in your system.

Unfortunately, it was Microsoft's Tech Support group that sent me to Adobe. They gave me a phone number to call, but the agent I reached in Adobe indicated there is no direct support for Adobe Flash, and directed me to this forum. There is clearly no one in either Microsoft or Adobe who is actively working to locate and resolve the issue. I deleted my wife's Windows 10 account; did a restart; and then, re-added her account in hopes it would reset something that would enable Flash Player to work in her Windows 10 - Microsoft Edge account environment. The problem did not go away using that approach. Until Microsoft and/or Adobe address the issue, I have found no way to correct it, and thus am not willing to consider this issue "answered."
