Flash Player error message

I keep getting an error message several times daily for the past two weeks as follows:

Adobe Flash Player Update Service 11.3r300 has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I checked my system and only see the Adobe reader and not the flash player. How do I get rid of this annoying error message.
