Flash player error while running IE.

We have been getting the following error:   "The instruction at 0x00007FFB251600E8 referenced memory at 0x00007FFB251600E8.  The memory could not be written.  Click on ok to terminate." 

This happens every time we launch IE with Windows 10.  It generally happens every time there is a Adobe Security Update.  We have tried deleting the old macromed folder thinking it was an issue with the Windows 7 version since we upgraded to Windows 10.  We also disabled the Adobe Security update service and we still received the updates which caused the error. 

Please advise we have over 400 computer in our company and it seems that everyone is getting that issue and it locks them up and cant go to any websites. 

The work around is uninstalling the latest Adobe Security Update.  It fixes it for a while.

    Hi,

    For which browser are you attempting to install Flash Player update for?  What is the name of the install file you are using?  As of Windows 8, all Flash Player updates for IE (and Edge) are distributed by Microsoft, via Windows update, not Adobe via any Flash Player update service.

    I'm not sure what you mean by "old macromed folder" as there's only one Macromed folder (2 if o a 64-bit OS).  What folder did you delete?

    How are you currently updating Flash Player for the non-IE/Edge browsers?


    Please post a screenshot of the error message.

    Thank you for replying.  The updates are from Windows.  Its the Security Update for Adobe Flash Player KB3202790 and KB 3201860.  Its been everyone of them since we started getting them.  The only way to get around it is to either delete the Macromed folder or uninstall the update.  We are using IE as default instead of Edge.  See the error below. 

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

    Thanks for clarifying and posting the screenshot.  Since the update comes from Microsoft, not Adobe (we hand-off the update and they package it into their update mechanism) you would need to contact Microsoft about the failed Windows Update.   You can also try using the Windows Update Troubleshooter tool to attempt to troubleshoot the error.

    I do know that since Microsoft embeds Flash Player in IE they protect (lock) the Flash Player ActiveX files to prevent users from easily deleting them, and the Flash Player uninstaller does not uninstall Flash Player ActiveX on Windows 8 and above.  Since you deleted the /Macromed/Flash directory you had to have unlocked these files to be able to delete them.  Doing so can, and does, impact the ability to install Flash Player updates released by Microsoft.  It's possible running System File Checker may help repair file system issues caused by deleting these files.
