Question

Flash Player files remain after uninstalled.

Recently, I tried to uninstall Flash Player ActiveX from Windows server 2012 R2 since our server does not need Flash Player.

It prompted uninstallation completed but following Flash Player ActiveX files still remains at installation location such as "C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash" & C:\Windows\SysWoW64\Macromed\Flash.

*. FlashUtil64_xxx_ActiveX.exe

*. FlashUtil64_xxx_ActiveX.dll

*. Flash64_xxx.ocx

I can delete FlashUtil64_xxxActiveX.exe and FlashUtil_xxx_ActiveX.dll manually bot I cannot delete Flash64_xxx.ocx; I can renamed it.

Thank You!

Hi christophero30740878

You are posting to the Install Flash Player forums where we provide assistance with Flash Player installation issues.  The issues you posted are general desktop issues, which are completely out of the realm of this topic (or any Adobe support forum).  You'll need to find assistance with your desktop issues elsewhere.

Hi,

This is actually a bug in the installer - it shouldn't install Flash Player ActiveX on Server 2012 as Microsoft embeds Flash Player ActiveX for IE in Server 2012 (enable Desktop Experience to see it).  Since Flash Player ActiveX is not supposed to install at all on Server 2012, when you try to remove it some artifacts are left behind.  You can try to unlock the file and delete it that way.
